There are people that find food tastier if someone else goes hungry, meaning they are happier when they create an unhappy situation for others. Suffering seems to fuel their enjoyment. Don’t let these people discourage you or become a threat to you achieving Restful Relationships, and please don’t be like them. Their inner peace is so disturbed that they must create chaos or suffering to feel and look calm and in control. This attitude is unfortunate but necessary for most of the societies that exist in the world today. Without this attitude people would not learn the me-first attitude of hoarding and privilege that drives today’s economy. The attitude that fuels Restful Relationships is a threat to this attitude because learning to listen to the needs and to the advice of others satisfies the basic need for connection that brings the peace that surpasses all understanding and makes people connect to the suffering of others in ways that cause profound changes to every aspect of the person’s life and relationships.
There is nothing wrong with success; just don’t perpetuate the harsh and hurtful acts that caused suffering in your own life. Dare to be different. Show love for yourself by not cruelly and intentionally causing suffering for someone else, because you reap what you sow.
